Job Description:

This position is part-time, as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assists pharmacists in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services.
• Provides friendly and cooperative customer service.
• Enters patient data accurately.
• Answers telephones quickly and with courtesy.
• Operates the cash register and rings sales.
• Pulls and counts medication from shelves accurately according to label generated at time of dispensing for final check by Pharmacist.
• Participates in pharmacy orientation programs, training programs for Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy staff meetings, in-service educational programs and other committees and functions as required by the facility and pharmacy department.
• Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy.
• Maintains accurate and complete patient records.
• Assists in inventory control such as auditing receipt of goods, inventorying, stocking, pricing, monitoring usage, and correcting pricing and quantities in the computer.
• Removes, picks up, and/or delivers drug orders if necessary.
• Informs patients of any notations on prescription bag.
• Informs the pharmacist of any alerts form the pharmacy system, such as contraindications, interactions, and allergies.
• Enters and maintains non-preferred drug requests in the PA system.
• Verifies NDC number to pull and count medications form shelves.
• Participates in activities resolving unsafe and unsanitary practices.
• Issues supplies to other pharmacies or departments as needed.
• Pre-packs and documents medications accurately as needed.
• Participates in the Performance Improvement Program.
• Works cooperatively with other staff members to enhance the team concept.
• Remains free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
• Completes required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  
  Education: High School Diploma or GED required.Current PTCB and State of WV Registration is preferred, or candidates must be able to pass the exams required by WV.
  Experience: A minimum of 2 years of prior pharmacy tech experience in a retail setting preferred.
