- Delivers preoperative care to the surgical patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Assures optimum quality of patient care by serving as resource person for other staff members, patients and families. Coordinates patient care within surgical services and with other departments.
Assists the physician.
Assumes responsibility for evaluating and assessing patients being considered for surgery
Directs activities of preadmission testing
Communicates with charge nurses, physicians and other team members
Delivers direct patient care appropriate to age of patient served
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Current licensure by WV State Board of Nursing
